A dream island road trip with our VW T3 Bulli – Van hire Tenerife with Hanggtime!

We had been dreaming of the Canary Islands for a long time, and this year the time had finally come: a road trip to Tenerife! But not just any vacation – we had decided on something very special, namely to explore the island in a VW T3 Bulli camper. As soon as we saw the van, we were smitten. The retro charm, the lovingly furnished details and the feeling of freedom immediately made us realize that this would be our perfect companion for the adventure ahead. The warm welcome from the Hanggtime team (Sebastian and Caro) left no questions unanswered. Because they gave us an all-round feeling of security from person to person. Our first stop: the north of Tenerife

Our adventure started in the green north of the island. We drove through dense pine forests, past steep cliffs until we reached the breathtaking landscape of the Anaga Mountains. Here we parked our van for the first night and enjoyed a unique sunset over the mountains. Everything felt so uncomplicated with the van – just drive off, stop and enjoy the moment. We were particularly impressed by the well-thought-out interior of the camper. The cozy seating area, the small but well-equipped kitchen module in the center. Especially the comfortable bed made it easy for us to immediately feel at home.

Between volcanoes and beaches

The next morning, our journey took us to the famous Teide National Park. At over 3,700 meters, the majestic Teide volcano is the highest mountain in Spain, and the volcanic landscape was simply breathtaking. However, as camping is not allowed in the national park and the parking situation is not the best, the easiest way was to take a public bus from Los Cristianos to the cable car station and back several times a day. We were always fascinated by the extreme changes in landscape – from lush green forests to barren, almost moon-like volcanic landscapes. One of the highlights was the view of the island, the sea and the setting sun, which took our breath away. Such moments simply cannot be put into words.

A day on the south coast

After exploring the highlands, we were drawn to the beaches on the south coast. Playa de las Américas and Los Cristianos, with their golden sand and crystal-clear water, were the perfect change from the cool mountain air of the national park. Here we parked the van right on the beach and spontaneously jumped into the sea. We had the freedom to stay wherever we liked – and the van always offered us a cozy home. In the evening, we would sit in front of our camper with a glass of wine, listen to the waves and enjoy the peace and quiet. We always wished for moments like that.

The love for the van and the warm support

We were in love with our VW T3 Bulli from the very first second. It has so much character and exudes a sense of adventure and independence. It was a joy to drive – it was great to navigate the narrow roads and at the same time provided us with the comfort we needed for our trip. What also impressed us was the great communication with the team. From booking to handing over the van, everything was cordial, uncomplicated and well organized. You could tell straight away that the people working here are big Bulli fans themselves and share their passion with us.

We will be back!

Tenerife absolutely fascinated us. The diversity of the island – from the impressive volcanic landscapes and the green forests of the north to the beautiful beaches in the south – is unique. But although we have seen so much, we know that there is still so much more to discover. We are determined to come back again to explore all the hidden corners that we didn’t get to this time. And one thing is clear: next time, our faithful companion will once again be a VW T3 van from Hanggtime.
